Now that we’re halfway through December (oops), let’s celebrate November in pictures! November 2011 is…

- Canes Corner with Jay Harrison - Wine & Design - Canes vs. Penguins hockey - Clemson at NC State football - Thanksgiving - GA Botanical Gardens - decorating gingerbread cookies -

I’ve been making an effort lately to take a lot of pictures, which hasn’t been hard, really, since I got a DSLR a few months back & I’m having fun playing with it / learning what all the settings do. So I thought it would be fun to sum up each month in photos starting with October. I have to say, it was a pretty rad month. In no particular order, October 2011 is:

- Clemson at Virginia Tech - Corn Maze with the ladies - 2011 NC State Fair - Canes STH party - Darius Rucker concert - Trip to Chicago to visit my sister - Halloween -

I was going to post this yesterday, but then the day happened. I had to play catch-up on email from being on vaca Monday, and the day just got more irritating / stressful from there. But it’s too good not to post. Look for another music post this afternoon.

I was up in Chicago visiting my sister, and I told her that while she’s living there, her goal should be to do everything that they do in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So there ya go, sis. Add this to your Chicago Bucket List: co-opt a parade & turn it into a dance party. Or at least go to a parade ;)

Has anyone else played with http://yes.thatcan.be/my/next/tweet/ yet? I unblocked my twitter just briefly to try it out. Most of them read like Engrish, but this is the best one I saw. Predicting Clemson’s football season??

So I heard of this thing, Klout, and I went to investigate what it is. Apparently I have 26 Klout… points? Or something. I’m not really clear on what that means or where that falls on the awesome/sucky scale (and I need to know, because clearly everything is a contest). And I influence some people, on a few specific subjects. Raleigh, ok, I am a resident. Star Wars…. sure. I’m sufficiently geeky.
But boats??
I have no idea.

Adventures in (Growing &) Cooking: Tomato Pasta

The tomato plants were an impulse buy at the grocery store, and a bit of an experiment. As in “let’s see if I can keep these alive long enough for them to even product anything.”

Then they went from this:

Tomatoes, growing

to this:

Tomatoes, all grown

and finally became this:

Tomato Pasta

This is me, who has a strong penchant for killing anything green. I have GROWN VEGETABLES, and then COOKED A MEAL WITH THEM. Understatement of the century, I was excited about this.

What I did:

  1. Boil water & cook up some whole-wheat linguine.
  2. Heat up oil for sauteeing. Minced garlic goes in first, stir around for a couple minutes, until just brown. Diced purple onion goes in next, sautee a few more minutes, until onions are translucent. Tomatoes go in last, along with all their juicyness. Don’t cook too long after this, or the tomatoes get too soft.
  3. Add the cooked pasta & get it all good & mixed together.
  4. Season: crazy salt, pepper, oregano.

This is just what I had on hand, I think it would be tasty with any other veggies you’d care to sautee up.

Pretty much because it amuses me…

Here’s my playllist driving back from kickball:

1. Dixie Chicks - Tonight the Heartache’s on Me
2. The Thrills - Big Sur
3. Sugarcult - Memory
4. Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delivered
5. Chevelle - Vitamin R
6. Joshua Radin - Brand New Day
7. David Bowie - Underground

I have the most random taste in music
