Chevelle — Still Running

And now to completely switch musical gears, let’s take a trip back to undergrad when this is what I listened to. Still my favorite Chevelle album, too.

(Side note: glad to see Chris Lane Band is getting some likes!)

Happy Wednesday!

Chris Lane Band — Just Like You

I got introduced to these guys last week, and saw them live in Greensboro this past weekend. This is Good Country, y’all. And one of the guitar players does some solid rapping during a few of their live “specials.” They’re gonna make it big, just wait. And then remember who told you about ‘em ;)

Happy Tuesday!

The Weepies — All This Beauty

Let me assure you friend,
every day is ice cream and chocolate cake!
(And what you make of it)

Some days make it easier than others, but I really do try and approach every day this way. Some days (like Mondays) I need reminding. And some days i’m just brimming over with happiness that it’s good to remember to be thankful for those times. Today is a little bit of both, for me.

Happy Monday :)

Joel Plaskett Emergency — Extraordinary

Have you ever heard of Joel Plaskett Emergency? Neither had I. It may be because they’re Canadian. (Which is not to say bad things about Canadian bards — I am a fan. I’m actually conducting a listen-through of the BNL discography at this very moment).

…ANYWAYS, I feel like i’m not strictly making sense. The point is, this seemed like a good song for a Friday. It’s fun, you should listen to it.

OneRepublic — Good Life

Only one day ‘till Friday — then it’ll only be one more day ‘till Saturday! Before this turns into a Rebecca Black moment, let me just say —

Happy Thursday, y’all!

Taking Back Sunday — This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know)

For whatever reason, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. (Isn’t that a funny phrase — woke up on the wrong side of the bed? As if the simple act of leaving your bed from one side or the other could affect your day. I wonder where that came from, does anyone know?) So this morning’s drive in called for loud music that I could scream along with.

Chanelling College Sarah — perfect. Happy Hump Day, y’all.

Joe Pug — Deep Dark Wells

I *know* you’ve been wondering: it’s been two full weeks since the new Joe Pug album was released, why hasn’t Sarah commented on it yet?? (Ha. I don’t really believe anyone was waiting for my opinion, but y’all are going to get it anyways.)

I had to listen to the album through several times. And to paraphrase John Green, I fell in love with it the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once. I enjoyed Joe Pug’s last album (don’t get me wrong), but it always struck me as a departure from what were my favorite things about him. It was too produced, almost like he was trying too hard. This album returns to what I love about Joe Pug: he tells beautiful stories with his music, quietly & unassuming, but with deceptive heart.

Home stretch, y’all.

I really can’t tell you why, exactly, but I’ve been kind of obsessed with this cover that Young the Giant did of R Kelly’s Ignition (Remix). So i’ll share it with you.

The Black Keys — Next Girl

Always count on Monday to creep up and ruin a good weekend. And my weekend was FANTASTIC. I kind of have a weekend-hangover, it’s been really difficult to get myself in the working mindset this AM.

There may be an afternoon-pick-me-up-edition of GMM today.

As always, trying to make it a good day. Happy Monday!

Old Crow Medicine Show — Trials & Troubles

Who’s got two thumbs and is super glad today is her Friday? THIS GIRL. What a well-timed 3-day weekend. Maybe I can kick this cold that’s attacking my throat with a vengeance. Or maybe instead i’ll just lay out at the pool FOREVER. (Yes. Good plan.)

Have some bluegrass! Happy Friday to me & Thursday to everyone else!
